5 Tips For Your New Years Keto Diet
The new beginning to your diet is coming. If you are seeing this at new year’s, then it’s part of your new years resolution.
If you are seeing it before an event, like a wedding or reunion, then it’s the same idea.
We want a fast start, and we want to succeed at losing some weight or inches…hopefully both.
1. Start with a goal.
I’m not big on goals personally as a way to run my life. For some people it works great. That’s not the point here.
We want one simple clear goal. “I want to lose x pounds in x number of days”. Or, “I want my blood sugar to this level”. Or “I need to fit in this outfit by this date”.
There’s a reason for that. You can just let the current take you down the stream, or you can take charge. There are things you can do if you are not losing fast enough.
You can do fat fasts, or lower carbs. There are clear actions you can take if you are not getting to your goal. If you don’t have a goal, you won’t know if you are getting there or not.
2. Preparation
If you know what you want in your goal, you can prepare the field of battle.
Do you have the foods you need to succeed already in stock and ready to go?
On the other hand, have you removed the things that will lure you away from your goal.
Both are important. Have what you need right there when you need it. Take away the things that might cause failure. Just get them out of your environment.
Turn your environment into a friend, not an enemy.
Now, continuing with the 5 Tips For Your New Years Keto Diet…
3. Connect with other ketoists
It always helps to have moral support from others who are going through what you are.
It helps to share victories or challenges.
It’s likely you don’t know anyone doing keto, so turn to social media for support. There are keto communities on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and other social media places.
4. It’s a WOE, not a diet
WOE stands for Way of Eating, as in “way of life”. If you think of it as a diet, you will feel the artificial shackles, like handcuffs. The mind has a way of rebelling against artificial restraints.
If you think of it as a normal, everyday way of eating, you won’t have as much tendency to freak out and break the diet with a massive eating binge.
Try to get your mind to where this keto lifestyle seems as normal as whatever you were eating before was.
5. Prevent ‘Keto Flu’
If you get ‘keto flu’, it will be much harder to convince yourself to stay tight on your diet.
‘Keto flu’ is when you feel generally lousy, usually at the beginning of the diet.
Preventing it is simple, but you have to be conscious of what’s happening.
You need to hydrate. Make sure you get lots of liquids, and electrolytes. Put salt on your food, and get some keto electrolytes to put in your water. 99% of the time, this will eliminate keto flu.
