Hydration Domination for Keto
This could be the most important of the keto diet tips, but one of the hardest to follow. There is just something about drinking a lot of water that is hard to remember or do.
But staying hydrated will help you avoid all kinds of Keto problems. “Keto flu” is a problem for some people. It’s when you feel droopy and head achy. Lots of water is key to preventing that, and to making sure your cells can work properly to get you into Ketosis.
One tip: Use high quality water, meaning a natural spring water. I don’t recommend reverse osmosis or distilled water. These treatments remove all minerals from the water. Water has a kind of electric charge that attracts minerals. If the water has none, it will pull the minerals right out of your body! Not good.
Natural water comes from the ground and naturally picks up minerals and salts along the way. Then when you drink it, it provides your body a mineral balance instead of sucking them out of you.
Ph of water. The ph of water is how acidic it is. Lower numbers are more acid. A ph of 7 is considered neutral, or right in the middle. I prefer the water to be a minimum of 7ph or HIGHER. Alkaline water is much better for you. Acid water also feels different in your stomach….heavier. All companies don’t include ph on the label. Call them.
Drinking enough water will keep your skin and internal organs from aging as fast also. So drink up!
There is a simple formula for how much you need. Drink at least half your body weight in ounces. So, if you weigh 100 lbs, then drink 50 ounces per day. If you weigh 150 lbs, drink 75 ounces, and so on. If you sweat a lot from work or exercise, then you should up that amount considerably.
Drink all day long. Don’t try to drink half in the morning and half at night, all in one big gulp. Your body needs a constant feed of liquid. And yes, your tea and coffee can count toward the total, but only up to a point. Mostly, it needs to be pure water.
Drink water first thing in the morning before any food. It should be the first thing your body has to deal with.
That’s it. You’ve heard it all your life, mainly because it’s true.
