How To Stay Motivated on Keto
How To Stay Motivated on Keto is a huge topic. So before I start, I’m going to give you a way to look at it. Willpower needs something, a goal, to be applied to.
If it’s not simple, my feeling is that most people will fail.
It’s why I’m a big proponent of planned and pre made meals. It takes almost all the thinking and planning out of your daily life. All you have to do is grab and go.
We have a plan available that gives you everything you need from what to buy, the recipes, and even a shopping list to take to the store. You can put your brain on automatic and just follow along to success. You can see this incredible plan at rockthatketo.com/sk.
Look at the word motivated. It has the same origin as “motor”, like the motor in your car. It’s that thing that moves you forward.
What would you think if I said to you “You should lose weight. It won’t help your health, it won’t help you feel better, it won’t help you look better, but you should just do it anyway”.
You would think I was nuts. Why would I lose weight just because.
The Real Trick on How To Stay Motivated on Keto
Aha! So you do need reasons. Those reasons are what you need to find first. Otherwise you have nothing to push yourself forward, nothing to fuel your motor for motivation.
Start by writing down a clear goal, WITH the motivation.
“I will lose 30 pounds to prevent/cure my diabetes”
Then add reasons that would be a good thing.
“So I can be a better spouse” “So I can see my grandchildren” “So I can run again” “So i don't lose my job”
Find the thing you want the most, and use it. Personally I don’t think you should have too many of these reasons. The whole thing should be simple. X amount of pounds, one main health reason, and one or two outcomes (That’s the “So that I can” part)
Now Put Up Reminders
Write it down or print it out. Make copies and put them around.
Have an end date. If you don’t have an end date, your mind will file it away and forget it. Like a school exam coming up, there has to be a deadline to make your mind pay attention.
The second reason to have an end date, your mind has to see a goal line, a finish line. Otherwise it becomes an endless chore, which depresses you, which only makes you want to eat.
You need to be able to say “I only have to hold on until x day” . That’s how the mind works.
Now that you have a real, written goal, you have something to apply your willpower to. Now you can bring a: planning, and b: willpower to the battle. If you have a plan, and work the plan, that’s ¾ of the whole thing.
