Keto, Women, Special Problems
Did you know that Keto works slightly different for women than it does for men?
It’s true. If you think about it, many things in life do.
Women face special challenges and problems when doing Keto, because of the different body types and the hormonal differences.
We’ll take a quick look at some of these problems, and how to deal with and conquer them.
1st Challenge – Keto stalls (or weight loss stalls)
Women have more problems with stalling in their weight loss while doing Keto.
Hitting a stall in keto is when your weight loss may slow down… or stop entirely.
But you can overcome this problem by doing three simple things:
First… Up your fat consumption. Make sure you’re eating enough high-quality fats.
Olive oil. Avocados. Grass-fed beef. Pastured eggs with ghee or good butter.
Second… Add MCT Oil to your diet.
This will boost your Ketone production and kick-start your metabolism into high-gear.
And third… Do some intermittent fasting.
This is another proven way to deepen the Ketosis and speed up your metabolism.
Challenge #2 – Hormone imbalances
Keto is an endocrine-based diet.
This means we rely on hormones to make it work. Thus, keto, women, special problems.
If there’s a hormonal imbalance in your body, Keto will probably make it more noticeable.
There’s a couple of things you can do to mitigate this.
First… aim for a happy body weight.
Understand there’s a happy weight. And that it’s different from your ideal weight.
Women’s bodies are healthiest at around 22-29% body fat.
Going lower than that can cause or intensify existing hormonal trouble.
The second thing you can do is to sync up your eating with your cycles.
Increasing protein intake during your period can help mitigate hormonal imbalances.
Challenge #3 – Emotional eating
Women tend to show stronger emotions than men.
Especially when hormones are high throughout the body.
And this may lead to compulsive behavior like emotional eating.
The good news is that you can do something about it too.
First, make some Keto-friendly ice cream, snacks or a Keto dessert like cheesecake.
These will certainly help the temptation of cheating on your Keto journey.
And second… Address the emotional issues.
Examine your emotions to figure out what is causing the emotional eating.
Then work on it with love and compassion.
So there you go…Those are 3 of the most common problems women face when doing Keto.
And a few tips on how to solve them. I hope you found them useful.
