Short term Fasting to help with Keto.

Short term, or Intermittent fasting (IF) is probably the most effective thing to do to get your body into Ketosis fast. You could literally start seeing results in a couple of days.

If you are dealing with extreme blood sugar issues, then you definitely need to talk to your doctor before trying this. But for everyone else, it is an amazingly effective way to get healthier in every way.

If you are trying to lose weight, it will supercharge your body’s ability to start burning fat right away.

What is Intermittent fasting?  It means you don’t drink or eat any calories for a set period of time each day. You do this on a repeating basis.  For instance, you might have your last meal of the day at 8 p.m. Then, you skip breakfast and don’t eat until noon. That gives you a period of 16 hours every day for your digestive system to rest.

What can you have while Intermittent fasting? Water is fine. Tea or coffee with no creamer or sweetener is fine also. You just don’t want anything that your body sees as food.

This idea goes back thousands of years, because you can see and feel the results of I.F. so quickly. But luckily, we also have Harvard studies to back up the benefits of fasting.  I.F. lets all the processes and cells in the body take a break from constantly working. When that happens, the cells are able to regenerate.

If there is always food in your system, your body can never actually rest.

So, just like when you sleep at night and your brain gets to rest, fasting is letting your cells rest so they can actually regenerate and stay young! It can help you live longer and healthier.

When you don’t take in calories for more than about 12 hours, then your body starts getting rid of excess glucose from the body. This is the start of Ketosis. The start of when your body starts burning off the fat and using it for energy. Amazing!

Before your body will burn the fat, you have to get the sugar out of your system, because your cells will always burn sugar first before it goes after the fat cells.

There are quite a few ways to do Intermittent fasting, and some are not actually as hard as you might be thinking.

We will go into those in future posts.
