Sub Sandwich Shops.

Submarine, or Hero, sandwiches are very high in carbs. Subs can have  50 grams of carbs if you have the bun.

These day, they sub shops are getting very accommodating to low carb customers.

So just order your sub ‘in a tub’ (a bowl). No bun, no problem.

Jersey Mike’s, for example, has the following content, in a bowl, with no bun.

Club Supreme: 9 net carbs

California club: 5 net carbs

Turkey breast and provolone: 7 net carbs

Chicken Salad: 6 net carbs.

Just request the server to prepare it like a salad. And if you want dressing, only Olive Oil and vinegar for dressing. The pre-made dressings are carb nightmares.


Fast food keto options at Chipotle.

Chipotle is Mexican fast-food, in case you haven’t been to one.

They use high quality ingredients and try to be good stewards of  the environment. They show a serious interest in animal welfare and sustainable farming practices.

Chipotle is actually already set up to provide low carb meals. It’s only up to you to know what to order.

If you get a salad with meat or chicken, grilled vegetables, and guacamole, it contains only 6 net  carbs.

This will provide you with about 30 grams of high-quality protein.

Gut Hormones and Over Eating

There is a hormone in the gut which tells you when you are full. It is designed to keep you from overeating. A high protein and fiber intake can increase your production of these gut hormones. This meal fits that bill quite well.

You probably won’t need a salad dressing on this.  If you add guacamole and salsa, it will be super flavorful and satisfying. There is a  vinaigrette dressing available though, if you do want it.

Chipotle also has an online nutrition calculator that allows you to check the exact carb content of whatever you order.
