You have just spent weeks or months getting your body into ketosis. Finally you started losing weight, looking good, feeling better.

Then one day, you have a small emergency, or break in your routine. You might have to be out of the house unexpectedly, or the kids have to go to the dentist. Whatever. Life happens. Someday, something is going to happen to try to knock you out of your routine.

If you have to eat something wrong and get knocked out of Ketosis, you are not going to be happy.

Do what the Boy Scouts do.  Be prepared.

Successful Keto people always have something prepared just for such occasions.

It takes some planning, and some discipline. OK, so do most things in life worth having.

And look at it this way. You are going to have to make the food anyway. You might as well do it ahead of time.

Here’s the plan.

  1. Plan out what you would like for the next week or so.
  2. Have foods in the plan that will keep well in the fridge.
  3. Keep it as simple as possible. Simple foods are easier to make, keep better, and will allow you to mix and match to create different combinations.

If you have a family, you could make it into a group activity on Sunday evening. If it’s just you, put it into your weekly schedule just like a doctors appointment.

As a backup plan, learn what foods you can grab when you get caught  out without your food. We go over that in some of our other episodes. But as a simple example, you can order a burger with lettuce to wrap it at a fast food restaurant. But before you do that, you need a list of which burger brands have no fillers.

See? More planning.

With Keto, you either have a plan, or you plan to fail.

Once you get in the habit of planning ahead, it will become routine, a habit. Once that happens, you have got it made.
