3 Low Carb Tips I Wish I Had Known

When you look back, there are always things you wish you had known when you started.

If you had known about Company A, a large successful business, on the first day they opened, and bought some stock, you would be retired right now.

These are some things that would keep you from either failing or taking longer to succeed.

1. What is keto supposed to accomplish?

Keto is not a high protein diet. Keto is  a way of eating that allows your body to change the way it stores and burns calories.

It is NOT a high protein diet. It’s an exact right amount of protein.

Too much protein, and you will put a strain on your kidneys and the rest of your elimination system.  If you don’t get enough protein, your body will use up your muscles  for energy instead of fat.

That causes you body to lose muscle, but not fat. That’s the worst of all worlds.

It IS a low carb diet. It is NOT a NO carb diet.

Knowing your macros is the key to eating correctly to lose weight.

Continuing with the 3 Low Carb Tips I Wish I Had Known.

2. Use a keto plan from the beginning.

The first thing you hear when you start keto is to count your macros. Macros is  shorthand for Macronutrients. All food is made up of 3 macronutrients. Protein, Fat (or lipids), and carbohydrates (carbs). “Macros” which is short for macronutrients, are the amounts of fat, carbs, and protein your individual body needs.

Success in Keto totally depends on getting the right amount of each nutrient.

I have stopped telling people to count macros. It will drive you crazy. If you want to, you can do it that way.

But now there are Keto Plans that are completely done for you. Every meal, every recipe, and your shopping list is all done for you. This is really important when you are trying to switch your body to ketosis. You don’t need any mental problems.

3. A Simple way to think about the diet.

After you have a plan to follow, here’s how to keep from stressing.

The carb number is the upper limit for each day. But if you go over slightly every once in a while, don’t stress.

Protein is a goal, but don’t worry if you get the exact number every single day.  Have fat until you feel full.
